Taiwanese people are very pious. Ever since the immigrants from mainland China brought their deities over, Mazu belief has become an inseparable part in Taiwan for hundreds of years. The goddess Mazu is very special in Taiwan; unlike mainland China which only treats Mazu as an ocean goddess, Taiwanese would ask Mazu for anything, and exchange it with something luxurious; for example, golden statues and beautiful temple, and it eventually reflects how people’s desire transform and expand by the time. Therefore, the statue is showing a process of crystallization. One swing is like making a wish, and the goddess will be more beautiful.
